Gina and Jeff were hands down one of our favorite couples to work with. From the beginning up to the day of the wedding, they were so nice I almost couldn’t believe we were doing flowers for a wedding!

Gina had wanted all her bouquets (bride’s, bridesmaids, and jr. bridesmaid) as well as all the boutonnieres to be preserved. For everything else, we were going fresh.

This is a common setup Sweetly Lovely is able to provide - a mix of both fresh and preserved flowers. Our preserved flowers allows the bride and groom to keep their special arrangements long after the wedding day.

We were really excited because her wedding also involved a special dedication arrangement we were able to do for Jeff’s dad, rose petals for the guests to throw, and special wristlets & hair pieces for some of the flower girls. Gina & Jeff were wed at the Heights Baptist and had their reception at the Swan Court.

For her preserved arrangements, we used preserved red roses with green hydrangea accents. For the altar pieces and the other fresh arrangements, we used an assortment of greens, gladiolas, white calla lilies, and white roses. All in all, it was really a great wedding to be a part of.

This past week we were at the Great Bridal Expo once again to showcase some of our work to the thousands of brides in the DFW area. We were the featured florist for the show and so we had a chance to decorate the foyer area as well as the welcome tables.

This year we didn’t give away free boutonnieres anymore but we did give away 4 fresh flower arrangements including two very pretty bouquets to some of our guests who dropped their sweepstakes tickets at our ticket box.

It was a lot of fun as many of our friends dropped by to say hi and we also had a chance to meet lots of brides. Thanks for coming out and we look forward to maybe next year!

Monica came to us explaining that her wedding would be very simple and would like her wedding flowers to follow the same mantra. We used traditional red roses and greens for her bridal bouquet and groom’s boutonniere, white roses for corsages and fresh gladiolas and greens for the two altar arrangements. Her mother made the promenades and reception centerpieces. We truly enjoy all our projects, big or small, and make every effort to accommodate each individuals’ wedding needs and desires.

I was extremely excited to be able to work with a good friend of mine for her wedding.

Lacey and Darnell are an amazing couple, who despite having their reception venue canceled on them just a few weeks before the wedding, had a beautiful wedding! They wed at the St Joseph Catholic Church in Richardson and ended up having their reception at the stunning Starlight Room in Dallas’ West End.

Lacey let us know from the beginning that flowers were very special to her and she wanted them to elegantly accent the moments of her big day. With her chocolate brown and deep red theme in mind, we took care of all her floral details — from the altar arrangements, bridal bouquet, and personal flowers to the reception centerpieces and arrangements as well as the cake decor and topper. Her flowers were hands down top-of-the-line and deeply rich in color, consisting of a combination of Freedom and Black Magic roses, dark calla lilies, ranunculus, red gladiolas and greens.

Special thanks to Table4Photography for most of the incredible images below.

These past few weeks Chick-fil-A at Frisco, Mckinney, & Watauga commissioned Sweetly Lovely to provide the florals on their restaurant tables. They liked the concept of preserved flowers and not having to purchase fresh ones every week. Because our flowers never require water, it helps restaurants avoid unwanted spills & the hassle of re-watering the flowers every few days. Preserved florals also work well at restaurants because they’re able to sustain itself for so long.

On one of the days we were visiting, some of our team got to meet Dan Cathy, COO of Chick-fil-A!

It’s been a busy few months for us… We also have a couple of weddings to blog about so stay tuned.

The SL Open House/Party was a blast, with a pretty big turnout (150+ we estimated) and seemingly endless eating and fun mingling. The cupcake tower, ramen bar and chocolate fountain were the biggest hits. :) We were surprised with an unexpected interview from a reporter for an overseas show. A big THANK YOU for everyone’s generosity in giving to the McPherson military family. We were able to present them with several gift cards and a new digital camera to replace their broken one. The year has ended on a high note and we can’t wait for all that’s in store for 2009!

Some sweetly lovely memories:

Both their ceremony and reception were held on the 26th floor at The Cima Club in Las Colinas where the views were absolutely spectacular. We graced their 30 reception tables in the magnificent L-shaped banquet room with chic fishbowl arrangements of white stock, Fuji mums, Alstromeira, Vendela roses, Delphinium and hydrangeas; created two huge altar pieces for their ceremony composed of similar flowers with commodore, angel vine, and leather leaf greens; and accented their sign-in and guestbook tables with floral fluorishes.

It’s been a busy, but rewarding, past month for us. We’re proud to announce that our florals will soon be appearing in several Chick-Fil-A stores in the DFW area with possibly more to come! It has also been pleasant meeting with brides for consultations. We had a lovely wedding last week at The Cima Club in Las Colinas. Photos and details to come. Next weekend, we will be creating florals and arrangements for a corporate party for The Canterra Development Group.

We’re also looking forward to the Sweetly Lovely holiday party/open house this coming Saturday. There will be lots of good food, cake and more. We will also be sponsoring a military family by accepting donations on their behalf.

Happy Holidays, everyone!
